You need more clean headroom?  The new Tung-Sol 7581A vacuum tube is the answer.  This tube is an upgraded 6L6GC tube but willprovide more headroom than typical 6L6GC tubes. The 7581-A power tube has a plate dissipation rating of 35W, as opposed to the 6L6GC and 7581 rating of 30W.  The 7581A tube can be used in any 6L6 based tube circuit.

From our review: "Balanced, is the first word that comes to mind when I think about the sound. Other descriptive words would include detailed, rich and responsive. The bass response, midrange and treble were very balanced and the EQ could essentially be left flat.Very rich sounding with enough shimmer and harmonics to put a smile on my face."

A fantastic choice for your Fender tube amp, Ampeg amps normally using 7027A tubes, Music Man amps, or any other 6L6 based tube amp where you need to increase headroom.

Best New 6L6 Tube

by

This is the best new 6L6 type tube I have used. This tube reminds me of the Svetlana Winged C. I hope these tubes are around for a while.
I put these in a '68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb. It woke this amp up and increase dthe headroom.
Don't hesitate to buy this tube, you wont be disappointed

Great audio tube!

I use these as driver tubes in my Line Magnetic 518ia integrated audio amp. Improvements include clarity and resolution. Stock tubes sound glassy when compared.

Great sounding tubes

by

Lot of headroom. Big sound, punchy, clear, articulate. Very balance across the spectrum. I think tigher bottom than 6l6 and kt66 without sounding thin and less mid than el34 without sounding mid scooped. Sweet high end. It’s kind of straightforward sounding with not much harmonic complexity. I like it more than the el34 because is fuller sounding less focused and more than 6l6 because of the balanced tone not scooped mids. However I like more the kt66 because of the complex harmonic content on the notes.

Awesome with PrimaLuna

by

Love this tube. Using it with PrimaLuna Dialogue HP monoblock amps. Have used EL34, KT120 and KT150, and this tube beats them all...but with some caveats. In Ultralinear, the sound is overblown, with exaggerated bass. But in triode, the sound is sublime, with great bass, beautiful, saturated mids, and detailed, yet non aggressive highs. Detail retrieval is terrific. Although the KT150’s are fabulous, this tube adds a touch more flesh to the sound while still maintaining great bass. Highly recommended with PrimaLuna amps.

Flat and a bit lifeless

by

I didn't care for the tone of these tubes in my blonde Showman amplifier. Too flat and sterile sounding for my tastes. However, I did like these tubes in my amp for playing bass. The flat response and increased headroom and volume worked like a charm. I still prefer the TAD small bottles over these but they always have issues and die too quick.
