This Preferred Series EL34 vacuum tube is a premium high quality tube produced for us in China by the Shuguang factory. We found the best of current production, sourced it to our specifications and gave it a 6 month extended warranty.

The Preferred Series EL34 construction features:
- Grey plate and single "disc" style getter
- Gold grid wires
- Copper grid posts
- A carbonized filament for more efficient thermal radiation
- Low noise filament
- The bottle is made with a heavy gauge glass
- And finally the blue color base is a nice touch too!

From our review: The bottom end is amazing and the tube has tons of gain before it gets dirty. The real strength of this tube is the bass and midrange. Bass notes are rock solid and the mids are very rich and complex. The high end is very good but not bright. This tube really wants to be in your JCM 800 or other amp that can generate piercing top end."

Ian D'Sa of Billy Talent -
"The Preferred Series EL34's have an incredibly tight bass response, unparalleled clarity, and are very rich in harmonics. They are perfect for what I need out of my Diezel VH4 guitar amp. In combination with the Preferred Series 12AX7's, these tubes have brought my Diezel VH4 back to it's former glory. Many thanks to thetubestore.com!"

One of a kind power tubes.

I have Marshall Tsl122 and used quads of JJ kt77 and Shuguang EL34s before. Kt77 had huge bottom end and were less compressed than el34, sweet sounding lead sound. El34 shugs are very hot crunchy VH sound and much tight bottom end. After not much use I had trouble with bias drift with both quads ,i.e one or more tubes becomes so hot. So I ordered the PS quad and even on the first use I was very surprised to hear kt77 charactaristics of huge and big bottom end and nice compression which was much sweeter than the regular el34. I feel that mids are not as high as regular el34 but the low and high ends are elevated which make every note sound huge.
Now I dont have to worry anymore about the BIAS problems . And my amp become a new kind of animal. One down side is that I had to turn a tad more volume than before because bedroom level volume does not do them justice. Worth every penny.

More of everything

Great tubes with really big sound especially on mids with bold percussive lows. Highs are smooth. Have 2 installed on my THD Bivalve 30 watt class A amp with 2 nos Mullard 12ax7s. Sound is very powerful as I run amp on full power all the time. Very quiet. Push the front end with Fulltone Plimsoul when I need it. Have the head going into Bad Cat Unleash 100 watt power attenuator where I run my delay through its effects loop. Best sound ever. Notes are thick yet cut through. Sounds very Mashall going into Traynor 2x12 Greanback cabinet but with more complexity than any Marshall I've ever played and with much less noise. These tubes are very reliable as I only run my amp dimed and these tubes just shrug it off like a walk in the park. I've had nos el34s and these hold up very well so I'll just get these when I need a change. So far they sound like new after a year of everyday use. Very pleased.

Excellent all rounder

Just bought a quad set of matched Preferred Series EL34 for my stereo VTL ST85 amplifier, to replace the stock Electro Harmonix. Now, don't get me wrong, the EH is a great tube, solid, reliable. But I think the Preferred is a notch above the EH - impressive deep end, very nice midrange and an upper end which is just right without being too edgy. Highly recommended.

All killer, no filler

I popped a quad of these cowboys in my '78 JMP. They laid a whoopin' on the JJs that I used to run. The amp sounds so good I thought I'd share some riffs with the whole neighborhood. The neighbors loved it so much they thought the cops might like it, too. And a week from Thursday I'mma tell the judge how good it sounds, too.

Smooth metal heavenly tone

I've tried JJs, Ruby and EH 34s in my Marshall 2205s, I have an 1985, 1986 and 1988 heads. I really like high gain in my amps but do not use a distortion pedal, just an Od to compliment the boost on these Marshalls. The JJs sound good and so do the EHs and can't really say which one is better. The JJs have better bottom end but the EHs add more mid and top end. So I put the Preferred Series in my 1985 model. As you know the early 2205 do not have as much gain but WOW!!!! These EL34 tubes not only add real punch bottom end but also smooth percussive highs. So far these tubes have been great for awesome 80s thrash or smooth prog metal tones!
