The JJ E88CC Gold pin preamp tube is a great alternative to ECC88, 6922 and 6DJ8 vacuum tubes for preamplifiers if you are looking for a warmer, smoother sound.

From Wall Of Sound: "...not the ultimate in resolution and control but damn, they are musical. I defy anyone to put on their favorite toe tapping tune and keep their foot still while listening to these tubes."

The E88CC tube type is equivalent to the North American 6922 / 6DJ8 tube and can be used in any 6922, 6DJ8 or E88CC/ECC88 circuit.

JJ E88CC / 6922 Gold | Excellent

My initial impression of these JJ-E88CC-G tubes is amazing. Detailed with great soundstage, warm in the mids and mid-forward with clean lows. Work great in my Gen1 Schiit Lyr!

JJ E88CC / 6922 Gold | In 2018 Something changed.

I have been loyal to the JJ brand for some time now. I have the 300Bs, rectifier tubes and a dozen JJ-E88CC-G for my Vacuum State preamp. The tubes manufactured after 2018 are different in that they are not as visual bright. Not a problem as long as they sounded good, and they did. Then one began to buzz very loud to the point of blowing a speaker. I run matched pairs so I ordered two more. The new ones started volume oscillating right from the start. I replaced the four dim tubes with older ones and my problems were solved. Now I have five useless tubes. Until things change I'll be switching brands.

JJ E88CC / 6922 Gold | Excellent "warm tube sound" for the price

Using two matched JJ gold pins JJ-E88CC-G in my Schiit Lyr 2.
I tried the Genalex Gold Lion, JJ, Electro Harmonix gold, and gold pin JJ. This vacuum tube will provide that warm, rich, and fluid mid-range that one seeks when imagining the classic tube sound whilst still providing excellent treble extension and bass control.
While the Gold Lion which provide staggering dynamics, imaging, clarity, and extension is the showcase tube that I let guests hear, JJ gold pins will be the workhorse tubes that I wholeheartedly endorse and utilize during my everyday listening sessions due to its engaging, exciting, rich sound that I keep finding myself coming back to.

JJ E88CC / 6922 Gold | Great tubes for the price / great services from thetubestore

Hard to beat at that price...Very nice JJ-E88CC-G matched with my DK Design hybrid integrated amplifier. It provide a warm sound, detailed with controlled deep bass (Just perfect too me). The sound is a little bit spacious, but I wouldn't say it's a bad thing. I find it interesting and different. That's is the pleasure of the tubes life, trying different things. It work well with every kind of music. Don't be fooled by the low prices of these tubes. It doesn't reflect their sound quality. With my amplifier they are a lot superior of the Reflektor 6H23P witch was too clear and their lack of bass. Only one thing, one of the two tubes was defective at arrival and was causing bad noises. The tube store offered me rapidly a free replacement without the trouble of sending back the defect one. Super great services. (Sorry for my English, it's not my first language)

JJ E88CC / 6922 Gold | Great tubes for any type of music!

Gear: U Turn Orbit Plus, Schiit Valhalla 2, Adam F5 monitors / Dayton Sub-1000 / Beyer DT990s (600ohm)

Bottom line here, these JJ-E88CC-G tubes are fantastic. The Valhalla 2 is a solid preamp out of the box with the 6N1Ps it comes with, however I couldn't help but feel like it smoothed out the signal a little too much, to the point that the highest and lowest frequencies were a bit hazy and washed out of the mix.

As soon as I threw the JJs onto the preamp I noticed a pronounced difference in both the volume and resolution of high frequency range especially. Texturally, everything is so much more refined. The improvement on bass is slightly less pronounced, but still appreciable. It packs a punch but is much tighter.

Perhaps it's not a life-changing difference in quality, but you'll have a hard time figuring out a better way to improve your system for only $60.
