The 6V6-S vacuum tube from JJ is rock solid and sounds great. It can withstand higher plate voltages making it a great choice in many tube amps.

They do clean with smooth clear high end. On the other end of the spectrum big fat bass notes that are well defined having a piano like quality are produced. Crank up the gain and you will get everything from a nice crunch to all out screaming distortion. And not just mush, but a very controllable, musical distortion. A well tuned amp running the JJ 6V6-S power tubes and getting a good strong signal from your guitar may make you want to cash in your old TS808. One rig that was used as a tester consisted of a 66 Deluxe Reverb fitted with a Celestion Vintage 30. The JJ's were put in with a plate voltage of 440 volts and biased at about 80% of their rated output. This would kill many 6V6 tubes (and had in the past). A current production Les Paul Standard was plugged in and the resulting sound could only be described as "crazy". Just about any genre of music from blues, jazz to classic rock was obtained. If you are a guitar picker with a love for tone you owe it to yourself to try a set of these outstanding tubes. Check out our review of this 6V6 tube.

JJ 6V6S | Good all rounder

These JJ-6V6S were my first choice for tone and reliability for a long time. The tone is the same as its always been but I'm finding customers and my own amps are getting mechanical noise from them the last couple years. In combo amps the internals become loose and you can hear it on bass notes through the speaker. Same results from various vendors and its becoming quite predictable. I notice now new out the box if you hold the tube to your ear and lightly tap the glass you can hear internal rattle. Its a shame they were great tubes and hopefully JJ fixes this. Out of many tubes I think only a couple have actually failed the tubes still operate as they should and I do still use them in heads so far. You can't buy tubes in batches anymore as they run out of warranty before you install them and its so patchy on quality you end up eating the cost which has gotten pretty high while quality has dropped.

JJ 6V6S | My Go To 6v6

I have quite a few vintage amps that use 6v6's ... After experiencing failures with various other "new brands" and having increasing trouble sourcing NOS tubes I decided to try these JJ-6V6S... I now have them in about 7 amps tweeds brown, Black panel ...I have not had a single jj failure... They sound consistently great.

JJ 6V6S | Nice tone with caveats

I’ve been using these JJ-6V6S for a few years in my ‘65 PRRI, and was getting a year or so of solid service from a pair, but it seems that lifespan seems to have been shortening. The last set I bought has yet to make it to 10 months and already I’m getting crackling and fade-out from them. Bias has not made any noticeable difference to lifespan. I’ve gone from 28mA to 19mA with the same results. Currently set has only ever seen factory spec of 23mA.

I’ll switch to EH I think.

JJ 6V6S | Heavier Duty Tube

Older amps were designed to run at a lower line voltage than we are supplied in 2019. Many 6V6 tubes are able to run at 475V. JJ-6V6S tube can operate at 500V. This should give extra margin for frequent hard use.

Great Tubes
I've had 4 of these in my Bad Cat Panther for 2 years now.
You can hear some 6L6 character as well as some EL84.
I am running these tubes hard and hot.
Great clarity with a really sweet power amp break up.
These tubes work well with pedals.
Durability + Tone
I use lots of delay, chorus, and fuzz.
Affordable! Great value!
