JJ EL84 / 6BQ5 Power Vacuum Tube (Matched)
From our review of this EL84 vacuum tube: "With the JJ EL84 power tube you seem to get a compromise between tone and reliability. Nice mids, sparkling highs and solid bottom end characterize this tube. From a construction standpoint I think JJ has hit the mark. As with any EL84 tube they can be prone to mechanical noise in combo amps. However, they seem to take the heat and vibration in stride without any negative tonal effects. In the AC30 the JJ EL84 tube will really deliver the VOX chime with lots of swirl and shimmery harmonic content. In the little Pro Junior just crank it up and you get a great, nasty, overdriven sound."
These are the same tubes that Groove Tubes relabels as GT-EL84-S.

JJ EL84 / 6BQ5 | They’re OK
by Pete
I replaced the Groove Tubes in my Blues Jr with a set of JJ-EL84 after one blew. Unfortunately, I find them to be overly bright and harsh sounding. When these go in a few months, I’ll call you guys for recommendations.
Thick and solid with deep and powerful bass
by Ardi
I have Audioromy 838 with 845 tubes driven by 6n23p and 12au7. I modified the circuit with 12AX7 and EL84 with 6L6GC as cathode follower works together to swing more than 200Vpp and 22mA current to fire the 845 grid.
After modification, the sound much better and I was using all EH tubes. The top is a bit sharp and the low is not deep. The mid are okay.
I read many review about JJ and today I replace the EL84 and 6L6GC from EH to JJ.
WOW! That is only I can say after I turn on the amplifier and play my favorite music.
The sound is totally different. It is very thick and alive. Powerful and deep bass. Clear top but not edges and not sharp.
When I push them hard, they really sing!
I extremely happy with JJ.
fabulous compression & sustain
by Mike
push these tubes and enjoy a juicy punch followed by sweet sustain & compression .. very addictive.
I won't comment the tone other than to say it works for me, and responds well to EQ changes.
I'm curious to see how long they last in my Traynor VGL-1 .. I think not so long but we'll see, and the price makes them pretty much disposable anyways. But overall a great touch sensitive tube.
Powerful little suckers
by Adam Lentz
I use EL84's in my Orange OR15, Orange Tiny Terror, and my Orange Dual Terror (What do you mean I like Orange Amps?). Anyway, these suckers are reliable, powerful, and their harmonies make it nearly impossible to get a poor tone.
JJ EL84

Im running them in a Crate VC 50 and these are the worst preforming tube I have ever heard they will NOT overdrive but offer a LOT of noise the harmonics suck there is NOTHING about a JJ tube for me to like I want my money back!
