EHX 6L6GC
by Pat Brislin
I put a pair of these tubes in my Traynor YCV40 to replace some JJ 6L6GC tubes that still sounded O.K. but rattled like crazy. WOW! I was thinking of selling this amp. Now its a beast with fat cleans and thick overdriven tones. Definitely a keeper. I will absolutely buy these tubes again when the need arises.
Good Tube
by Dave B
I sent my amp to my amp specialist and he put EH 6L6's in my YCV80. Also a traynor, Sounded good, but too compressed for me. It's a matter of taste, My ears like a bigger bottom end sound. These are good and were very reliable. I gave them back to the amp specialist and they tested strong after many hrs. of recording. EH makes good stuff.(New Sensor)
Another good Russian tube from New Sensor.
by Seth Burgin
Another favorite from New Sensor. I liked the Soviet stepped base tubes with the OTK stamps anyway, and I'd say this is more based on that than an RCA, but they do sound quite nice. Highs are not nearly as airy and weak as the old coke bottle Shu Guang Sino tubes, mids are nice warm & not too bright. The highs can be voiced to almost chime, but you won't quite get that super bright Roy Buchanan sound. I am running these in my big 105 watt Quad Reverb right now, and it will blow the legs of your trousers around. It has a nice tight bass thump, but it is not overly tight, nor is it loose and sloppy. Test readings are generally in spec with the spec's listed in the RCA books, when tested on both a modified valve tester utilizing fully regulated voltages, while the tubes amplify a 5KHz sine wave, under load. Noise is good. Further testing utilizing a transformer regulated PSU and an Arduino based tester that plots transfer curves shows results close to any of the NOS tubes. Noise is overall good, with low microphonics. Lifespan is short compared to NOS, but this is just typical. I have always liked the Soviet stepped base 6L6GC copy. This one is no exception.

So I put four balanced 12ax7’s two 6ca7’s and two 6l6gc all from EH in my Bugera 333xl infinium and HOLY CRAP!!! I play mainly hard rock/metal and I’ve never had more crunch and amazing cleans it’s not even the same amp anymore I was able to completely ditch my ts9 boost pedal it doesn’t even come close to needing it. Thank you EH for such awesome tubes.
