SKU: TS-6L6G

Note: Due to the large bottle size these tubes are not recommended for guitar amplifiers as noise issues are more likely.

The Tungsol 6L6-G vacuum tube is a large bottle tube type for the look and sound of 6L6 power tubes used during the golden age of hi-fi in the 1940's and early 1950's. This reissue Tung-sol 6L6G tube is rated to 6L6GC specs for improved performance and reliability in modern tube HiFi amplifiers.

From our review of this tube: "Although labeled a 6L6G this reissue Tungsol meets all the requirements of a 6L6GC. In fact, the internal assembly looks almost identical to the standard Tung Sol 6L6GC-STR. It will work fine in fixed bias and cathode bias designs and sounds just like the standard Tung Sol 6L6GC. Nothing really old or vintage about the sound. If you like the standard 6L6 this company makes you'll like the sound of this flashy cousin."

Note: The Tungsol 6L6G tube is considerably larger than most 6L6 tubes. The seated height is 4.75 inches, the width is 2 inches.

The Tung-Sol name and trademark have been acquired by the New Sensor Corporation. This new production Tungsol tube is manufactured at their Xpo-Pul factory (also known as Reflektor) in Saratov, Russia. New Sensor is an American corporation and since taking ownership of this factory has been steadily improving the quality of current production tubes.

Good sound low reliability

by

I had 4 matched of this tubes... I loved the sound but on my dared i30, after 10 months, one of them has burnt... Lucky my amplifier seems not be damaged and i turned back to the factory default worst sound of anonimous chinese 6l6g... Now I'm considering other 6l6g alternatives.

Reliability is an issue

by

I have to revise my first review of this tube. Sound good in my Musical Paradise, but reliability is the issue for me. I've had tubes fail within 5-6 months of use. So far, 3 out of 4 have died. Giving up on these ones.

Dared VP 20

These things are beasts... I love them. To my ears they are sick. I had to drill out the plates on my chinese amps in order to get them to fit however; well worth the effort. To my uneducated ears my Dareds now sound like MC's

Musical Paradise upgrade tubes - nice

by

Upgraded from stock Shuguang 6L6 tubes to a pair of these in my Musical Paradise MP-301 MK2 amp. Along with a pair of RCA 5693 "Special Red" Tubes ordered from this site I have a sweet sounding amp. The Tung-Sol 6L6-G tubes have that cool 'coke bottle' look too. Running them now for about 6 months, no problems. I'm a happy camper.

McIntosh MC30

by

Installed a set of these in my pair of McIntosh MC30s and think they are great. Good bottom end and high end with a mid-range to kill for. Much better choice than the Gold Lion KT66 tubes they replaced and easily better than the NOS RCA 6L6GC tubes, as well. Terrific sound.
