Rogue audio sphinx
This is the tube to get for the Rogue Audio Sphinx. Everything is right about the sound with exceptional vocals.

It sounds natural, without softening, it gives good vocal and high frequencies, it's clean. The scene is wide, free sound, open. The opposite is the feed from the JJ ECC82. It's well balanced just in conjunction with JJ who does not like the "shouting" of this lamp. together with TAD (12ах7): the stage is wide, deep, excellent high frequencies, free and deep, structural bass, the sound itself tends to lighten, without softness and sometimes lacks the thinnest after-sound. But the overall level is quite high!

My Rogue RP-5 preamp uses four 12AU7 tubes. While I am usually a great believer in NOS tubes and own several types and brands, I get frustrated with many NOS small signal tubes as they seem to get noisier as time goes on. So, with some trepidation I bought some TungSol 12AU7 re-issues to use in the Rogue hoping to rid myself of the noise and the price of NOS tubes as well. Frankly, I was gobsmacked at how good these tubes are! Maybe my ears are starting to fail me after so many years of horribly loud noise from my former employment, but I honestly cannot detect a huge amount of difference between the TS re-issue and the NOS Telefunken smooth plate 12AU7s I was using. I know many will cry heresy at that comment and if you do, so be it. But for the cost and the performance of the TungSol re-issue 12AU7, these are a true bargain and "Cinderella" story for any 12AU7 user.
I replaced two preamp tubes in my PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium HP Integrated ( in the V11 and V12 positions) and noticed an immediate improvement in the quality of sound. Gone is the graininess of the proprietary tubes being replaced with a very quiet background and very detailed smoothness. Textures are now more prevalent along with a much bigger soundstage. The TungSols have a lovely 3D effect and are excellent at conveying separation. Subtle dynamics are much more obvious and "surprising" as they well should be. Pacing and rhythm are so much more delightfully apparent compared the PL tubes.
These Tung-Sols only have about three hours on them. I look forward tremendously to see how they open up in the next few weeks. This purchase is one of the best " bang for the buck" improvements I've ever done.
