JJ E34L (EL34) Power Vacuum Tube (Matched)
From our review of this EL34 vacuum tube: "The sound is well balanced with tight bass response and great mids. As with many of the Eastern European tubes, mechanical noise is an issue if used in high power combo style amps. In a stereo system or remote head, these should provide a good tonal balance and service life."

Worth trying out
by Pat
I recommend these for a high end guitar amp head with lots of control. These give a solid bass for amp heads with lots of bells and whistles. I'm not sure if these are best for a basic amp. I was a little searching for my clean tone. However, on the blue and red channels, the tube overdrive is solid. I could keep my setting I used for more expensive tubes, and come up with a very nice straight recording tone. Nice for sagging back a bit, as opposed to pushing modern steel gain if you have that setting on your amp. It's a nice set to have for a high end amp (said that already). Particularly when you don't need the tube to do all the work. Over-tubing a high end amp can just be confusing and start to sound garbled. Not so with this tube. Really nice to work with on the gain channels. You can go pretty bright and gainy with your preamp tubes with these. Works well with Plexi gain, not so much with Fender clean. These completely nailed it in my Suhr PT 100. So beware, over tubing a high end amp can actually sound gnarly. I suppose if you had top NOS preamp tubes, you could go with other options for power tubes. Anyway, quite nice for gain on a high end amp, a bit short on the clean channel.
6550 to EL34 Switch
by Kyle
I recently just modified and switched my 1979 2203 Marshall JMP US model with Tung-sol 6550s which I bought on here a few years ago to the JJ E34Ls as I play a lot of AC/DC and that's what they used plus EL34s are much cheaper then a 6550s so that help a bit. The tubes sound great to my ears and the amp sounds better with EL34s. The tubes are not to Dark, not to bright. Well rounded and balanced tube when it comes to the highs and lows as well and plenty of play with my controls on the amp now. The L tubes also have a higher voltage rating then a standard EL34 so a better choice when switching from a 6550 which have a higher voltage rating to EL34s. Overall a good tube for a good price! Would buy these again!

Best yet, made a VHT sound almost like a Mesa 6L6, great for solos and rock leads, They snap crackle and pop in a great way. 5 out of 5
Muffalicious!

If your a stoner metal/doom guy, then these are worthy contenders for your tube satchel! My fuzz box now has hairy overtones like I've never heard before from this amp. They have more chug and roar then my previous tubes.

I've used a lot of different tubes these are by far the best harmonics. Fly any style sounds killer. Yngwie to Zakk tones easily will buy again.
