JAN-GE 6X4WA | Sweet sound improvement
by Paul
I recently changed my preamplifier to use these 6X4 tubes instead of the Chinese 6Z4 and the Russian equivalent rectifier tubes. Wow! increased dynamic range and openness of sound, also enhanced bass response.
I read somewhere that rectifier tubes do not change the sound all that much but now I am seriously doubting that is true because of the improvement I am experiencing with my preamp. Will definitely buy more of these tubes.
JAN-GE 6X4WA | Balanced with full tone and depth

My preamp uses two Chinese 6Z4 rectifier tubes. I also tried Russian 6CAP-EV tubes. The Russian tube sounds dark. The Chinese tube sounds good but the sound stage is constricted and lacks tone. I purchased the JAN-GE 6X4 with a 6X4 to Chinese 6Z4 socket adapter. With the 6X4, the sound stage is as wide as the recording provides, The sound is balanced with full tone and depth. The music sounds they way is supposed to be.
JAN-GE 6X4WA | Good To Go

Replaced the aging RCA 6X4 in my 1961 Silvertone 1471 with this GE-6X4 tube. Stoutly constructed, it sits more securely in the socket. Being a rectifier tube, the tone isn't remarkably different, but the signal is definitely brighter/stronger. I'd happily use this tube in any 6X4 application.
