Reflector EL84 / 6P14P
From our review: "I don’t find these to be as chimey as the JJ EL84 but brighter than the Sovtek 6BQ5. A good Russian EL84, my sample has their typical rugged build. Big plates and nice micas. Overall I’d call them warm with really nice mid-range response. Really great for blues tone when clean or overdriven. The overdriven sound comes on gradually but breakup can be coaxed out at lower volumes if you dig in with a pick or use hotter pickups."
The Reflector company produced these back in the day as part of a series of miniature pentodes. While the West was using the 6BQ5/EL84, 7189 and 7189A the Reflector plant in Russia was producing the 6p14p, 6p14p-V and the 6p14p-EV.

Clarity at its finest.

I’ve wanted to try these for a long time, but generally avoid the eBay sellers. It’s nice to have them from a company that sorts through large quantities of these.
Nice tight bottom, not too harsh. Woke up my AC15. Still has some good sparkle, good clarity. In that circuit, I notice that these break up nicely, but still retain note definition. I don’t notice any microphonics or the typical rattle that happens after you play this tube type in a combo so far, but it’s only been a few weeks.
The pins seem a touch fat to me, but that’s a good thing. Again, the bottom is nice and clean. Tight. Just the way you want it in a British amp. They take what I dish out without farting out.
