Lyr 2 Amp
by Audio Guy
Excellent with the Lyr 2 heaphone amp. Detailed, neutral, with just a bit of warmth, smooth treble
Comparable to NOS
by Lee De Forest
Compared to the standard EH 6922, the gold version has noticeably less hiss. I mean it's dead quiet. Otherwise, its sonic character is very similar to the standard version. I compared it to Brimar Mazda 6FQ7 in a headphone amp I built, from the design of Bruce Heran of DIY Audio Projects. It's a different type of tube but both are interchangeable in this amp. The NOS tube gave a more lush midrange, but the EH excelled in dynamics and high frequency extension. Arguably, it tied the esteemed NOS tube in performance, but costs less than half as much.
Excellent Tube in all aspects
by Marin Lugo
I purchased a Chinese Preamp that uses 4 tubes and it came with these ones.
Then I tried to move up to the Reflector 6H23p-EB / 6922 (Premium) but the result was a poor bass and a lot less detail.
I compared back and forth several times and definitely these EHG resulted much better.
Warm and Rich sound and Very Open soundstage.
It might be the equipment also.
I am going to test the Genalex Gold Lion and the Jan Phillips-6922 Low Noise.
I am rating it 4 stars to save space for a possible improvement with the other options.
Just do it!
Well worth the price. I installed these in 2 Audio Technica AT 4060 Tube mics and was thrilled with the tone. They have a natural warm bottom end response and open smooth high end that clearly captures the sound source harmonics to work their analog magic into my Avalon VT-737! Tube heaven!
