You need more clean headroom?  The new Tung-Sol 7581A vacuum tube is the answer.  This tube is an upgraded 6L6GC tube but willprovide more headroom than typical 6L6GC tubes. The 7581-A power tube has a plate dissipation rating of 35W, as opposed to the 6L6GC and 7581 rating of 30W.  The 7581A tube can be used in any 6L6 based tube circuit.

From our review: "Balanced, is the first word that comes to mind when I think about the sound. Other descriptive words would include detailed, rich and responsive. The bass response, midrange and treble were very balanced and the EQ could essentially be left flat.Very rich sounding with enough shimmer and harmonics to put a smile on my face."

A fantastic choice for your Fender tube amp, Ampeg amps normally using 7027A tubes, Music Man amps, or any other 6L6 based tube amp where you need to increase headroom.

Spot-on matching!

by

I installed a quad of these in my Ampeg V4B last week. The matching from The Tube Store was perfect! Each tube is within 0.5 watts of the others at idle. These are really high quality tubes BTW. They did run a bit cold, so I had to tweak the bias a bit to get them up to where I like to run them. At 50% of their rating (about 17 watts), the amp is VERY clean, making over 100 watts with ease, and no signs of cross-over distortion. They should last forever running this way. These are very heavy-duty tubes, with extra heat radiating fins added to the plates, very thick glass, and good metal suspension of the element. You really can't do better for a current production 6L6 variety tube, but you will likely need to adjust the bias. I'll be getting more to re-tube some of my other amps.

Very good tube A1#

A very well made tube with thick glass and makes others look cheap beside. Great sounding 6L6 like but with more balls, rich harmonics, and plenty of details.
Less boomy than standard 6L6GC and better thightness across the whole spectrum.
Many thanks for the quick shipping 👍

Perfect tubes for my Inspire Hotrod Amp

by

I have an Inspire(by Dennis Had) HotRod Amplifier that uses 6V6, 6L6, KT66, KT77, EL34, 6550, KT88, KT120 or KT150 tubes. I have tried new production Genalex Gold Lion KT66’s, Tung-Sol KT150’s and NOS National Union 350b tubes. Then I purchased a pair of new production Tung-Sol 7581a tubes. They have a very balanced sound with nice midrange, extended highs, tight & extended bass and a very nice sound stage. The new production Tung-Sol 7581a’s are my favorite tube for my amplifier.

My Favorite New Production "6L6"

by

Replaced a pair of Ruby 6L6GC-STR tubes in a PRS Archon and a pair of TAD 6L6GC-STR tubes in a 65amps The Whiskey.

More refined, and better balanced than the Ruby tubes. Can't say I noticed a lot of difference as far as head-room but there is a much smoother break-up. The same can be said when compared to the TAD tubes. No where near as bottom-heavy yet still very punchy. Notes are more distinct and snappier.

It's like getting a new amplifier!

I just popped a set of these in my '65 Fender Bassman and love the sound! While they may not give me higher power, there seems to be more headroom and punch; dynamics are bigger and better controlled; and the sound is very open and clear at every frequency with tons of very solid bottom-end. They also seem quite stable, well-matched, and the bias can be dialed-in perfectly. All of my 6L6s are getting tossed out and replaced with these!
