Tung-Sol 6550 Reissue Power Vacuum Tube (Matched)
Tonally, the Tung-Sol 6550 vacuum power tube has a smooth, extended high end, slightly warm midrange with great imaging, and a tight bottom end.
The Tungsol 6550 power tube has been closely constructed to the original specifications of the triple getter, 3-hole plate version. The build quality is top notch and the price is great, making them an excellent alternative to expensive NOS tubes.
The Tung-Sol name and trademark have been acquired by the New Sensor Corporation. This new production Tungsol tube is manufactured at their Xpo-Pul factory (also known as Reflektor) in Saratov, Russia. New Sensor is an American corporation and since taking ownership of this factory has been steadily improving the quality of current production tubes.

I had 2 of this for my audio research ref5se
I only used one of them about 500 hour.
To me sound is very dull and no depth.
I have to keep volume up to get a better sound.
I didn't have a test tool so i am not sure it was just this one or
all tung-sol is not right for arc amp.
Every Bit As good as

These are 100% equal to, in every way, the Tung Sol 6550 tubes made in NJ, USA in the 1960's. Period. Anyone that tells you differently is sniffing "mojo" fairy dust. As a matter of fact, most of the Tubes made by New Sensor, JJ and Shugaung are as good as their US and European 1960's -1980's made predecessors. The 12AX7 types and rectifier tubes still have a little ground to make up but they are getting there. It's true that tubes made in the 1950's were, without a doubt, better tubes. They sound noticeably better and they are still running 60 years later. It was probably due to the cost availability and purity of the metals used to make them -they were very wasteful in those days. But the Tubes made in the 60's 70's and 80's, even though they sell at astronomically high prices, are on average, not better sounding than tubes made today by the major Russian, Slovakian, and Chinese manufacturers. I have proven this to myself over and over again, in side by side listening tests. To sum this up, the Tung-Sol Reissue is, in every way a "real" Tung-Sol 6550. I've been using them in Hiwatt and Orange amps since New Sensor introduced them without a single failure and with great "tone" although 6550 tubes were never noted for all around great tone (if anything these purpose built Tung Sols from New Sensor sound a little better in audio applications than the grey plate versions from the 60's ). Stop wasting your money using rare, irreplaceable NOS tubes in your guitar amps and support modern tube manufacturing. Any other advice is Hype and "mojo".

I put these tubes in both my vintage Ampeg V4 and my Ampeg SVT-VR, I couldn't be happier, my V4 has never sounded this good, had groove tubes in it before but didn't sound this good. Way more bottom end, nice chirpy midrange and more treble than you"ll ever need. Very musical sounding. I also installed the Tung-Sol 12ax7 and Tung-Sol 12au7 tubes, great combination!!!!!

I have had these tubes for roughly 2 months and they sound awesome! They are very neutral & excellent sounding though, allowing your preamp section to truly represent the amp. I play with a boutique guitar amp and all I can tell is that these tubes made a huge difference in the sound of the amp.
