Svetlana 12AX7 Preamp Vacuum Tube
From our review: "I find the Svetlana 12AX7 preamp tube to sound a bit smoother than the 12AX7EH and it has less gain than the Tungsol 12AX7 vacuum tube. If you are not inspired by the Electro Harmonix and also find the Tungsol too grainy then this is the 12AX7 tube you want to give a chance. It has everything you want in a good pre-amp. Low noise, no microphonics issues, and very clear and open without being too bright."
This new production tube is manufactured at the New Sensor Corp. owned Xpo-Pul factory (also known as Reflektor) in Saratov, Russia. Use it to replace all other 12AX7, ECC83, and 7025 tube types. Solid construction and build quality and all test great on our equipment.
Not to be confused with the older Winged "C" version, this one is of far better quality.
One other note about the construction of these tubes is they have filaments that are almost completely encased in the plate structure. They don't "light up" brightly when working properly.

Very musical mids. Big but tight bass response. Very smooth highs. Will take all harshness from your amp. More gain than a Mullard and just a little less than a Tungsol. Great in all positions. Perfect to tame a Marshall. Amazing for Classic to Hard rock

For hifi preamp use I find these tubes far smoother, refined and less bright than the EH, TS or JJ's...a real sleeper. By the way, I ordered on Tuesday and received my order on Thursday with standard shipping. Great service TheTubeStore!

I have built a Vibro Champ, but the gain of TungSol 12AX7 in the preamp was way too high, causing immediate distortion at almost all levels. I tried an EH 12AY7 which was ok, but the gain was too low and there was a bad interaction with the tremolo circuit. You couldn't hear the tremolo very well. The EH 5751 gold was much better. I was very surprised with the Svetlana. The gain was just enough not to cause severe distortion,especially at lower levels it is very clean, and the sound is as described in the review, open but not to bright. I also have nice mids and until now no microphonics or noise. The Svetlana 12AX7 together with the TungSol 6V6GT is for me a perfect match in the Vibro Champ.

Bought 5 of the Svetlana 12AX7s. One went microphonic in 100 days. The noise levels of two others became so high, they were basically unusable. The remaining 2 are reminders to avoid these in the future.

I just recently purchased some JJ 6L6GC's and Svetlana 12AX7's to retube my Peavey Valveking and couldn't be happier. It absolutely crushes now!!!
