The Preferred Series 7025 is a high quality 12AX7 tube type. This tube is a reproduction of the highly regarded and sought after Mullards from the 1960s.

This 7025 is a high quality and very rugged custom 12AX7 tube produced for us in China by the Shuguang factory. The plates are manufactured out of a premium metal imported from Germany and supported with extra thick mica spacers to insure against microphonics. They are burned in and tested at the factory and then again on our digital high voltage equipment to make sure the tubes selected for you will provide outstanding tone and performance.

From our review: "A great sounding 12AX7 tube type that reminds me a little more of the ECC83 that Ei made in the old days. That's a pretty nice compliment. I compared this tube against an old Ei and Telefunken smooth plate and there was very little difference. Lots of gain with a rather low noise floor. No microphonics issues at all. Very good considering the large plate size. Spot welding may be better for microphonics than crimped plates. I tried it in all the standard guitar amp duties and it was fine. Fabulous in Blackface Fender amps. We tried this 7025 in a 66 Vibrolux reverb 2x10 combo and the tones were all there. Light and shimmering or really aggressive, it's all good."

Warranty: The Preferred Series 7025 tubes carry a 6 month extended warranty.

Cure for noise and hum!

These tubes cure noise, started out in my Genz Benz Streamliner head to cure the muddy sound, kept the overdrive where I love it! Just placed them in the V1 on a Monoprice Stage Right 15 watt combo guitar amp, no his, no noise ! these tubes cure the annoying hum noise and have become my go to tube for any of my preamp V1 slots! just ordered 4 more!

Poor Quality Control

by

Bought a pair and thought they were OK as input tubes in my Rogue amp but preferred my NOS tubes. Put about 100 hours on my pair and took them out. About a year latter wanted to try them in my new phone preamp, tested on my Stark 22-12, one tube test fine, the other tested below minimum on one triode and weak on the other. Waste of $$$. Poor QC.

Ok I guess

Bought a pair to try in my amp. Thought they were OK, nothing special. Took them out. Wanted to try them know in my phono preamp. Firsts tests ok, the other one test very low on one triode. I only have them 2 years. Crappy quality…..

Short life?

Put set of 4 into my YGL2a along with 4 balanced JJ El84's, fall of 2020, been noticing a low output and distorted sound during summer 2021 (6-8mnths), after 10min amp gets loud. Put my old El84's back in, loud from power on, started testing 1 of the "new" balanced JJ EL84 at a time same results, so I pulled all 4 Tube Store Preferred 12AX7's preamp tubes and put in 4 old 12ax7's, amp was loud at power on, been testing 1 Tube Store 12ax7 at a time in V1, found 3 Tube Store preferred 12ax7 sound dull and not quite as loud as my old Tungsol 12ax7, 1 Tube Store Preferred sounded a lot quieter and dull, so I guess I'll just toss out the Tube Store preferred 12ax7's.
