A customer comment: "I ordered two Gold Lion ECC83/B759 vacuum tubes a few days ago and I put one of them in the first preamp stage of my Rivera combo. Fantastic! On clean or distortion, both are absolutely fantastic! It provides good definition, fast attack, extended high frequency response, and full harmonic content. They are the best ECC83 / 12AX7 preamp tube I've tried! And they are not overpriced rare NOS! - 10/10"

Original Genalex Gold Lion ECC83/B759/12AX7 tubes are considered among the best 12AX7 tube types ever made. They are hard to find and when they are available, they are expensive. They exhibit a large detailed soundstage that is sought after by discerning audiophiles who demand the highest quality sound. The reissue Genalex Gold Lion ECC83 / B759 / 12AX7 recreates the sound signature of the original. This tube features balanced sections and gold plated pins.

One other note about the construction of these tubes is they have filaments that are almost completely encased in the plate structure. They don't "light up" brightly when working properly.

Genalex - Gold Lion ECC83 / B759 | Very happy with these tubes!

by

I have had four of the gold-pin Genelex Gold Lion 12ax7 in my Zesto PS-1 phono stage for a week. It replaced two other combinations: 2 NOS Mullard/2 NOS Telefunken and/or 4 NOS Telefunken. These are rare, and very expensive, tubes. So far, I prefer the Genelex GL-ECC83 (Premium). Go figure!?

Genalex - Gold Lion ECC83 / B759 | Smooth

Fantastic GL-ECC83 (Premium) tubes in my McIntosh preamp. Fast punchy bass, wide stage, lush mids and smooth highs. Great service from the Tube Store!

Genalex - Gold Lion ECC83 / B759 | Great sound, lots of gain

by

Despite the fact that all 12AX7's are supposed to have a amplification factor of 100, a lot of them (especially current production ones) actually have a lower amplification factor. But the long plate Gold Lion ECC83/B759 is an exception; it comes pretty close to 100, and with a great tone as well. I don't recommend it in any preamp stage of a combo amp (get the shorter plate version if you want a Gold Lion), but for the phase inverter or for other applications, this is a great tube, if your budget allows (as it is also not cheap).

Genalex - Gold Lion ECC83 / B759 | Great tube

These GL-ECC83 (Premium) tubes sound great. I use them in my phonostage and bass amp. They are expensive but I feel like they are worth the extra money.

Genalex - Gold Lion ECC83 / B759 | The best I've found!

by

I've retubed both my Princeton and Deluxe Reverb, (both reissues), with these GL-ECC83 (Premium) and to my ears, they are the best I've found. I tried both this version (b759) and the cv4004 and there was a distinct difference. They both sound excellent. The cv4004 is brighter with more bite and intense clarity while the b759 has a lovely balance of warmth and clarity and the cleans were full, round and still very well defined with lots of harmonic nuance. Side note: Their 6v6's required the bias pot set wide open to get around 65-69% of tube output with stock resistor. Sounds great there though. Fender had biased my amp at the factory at around 50%. Too cold. So glad I got these. No noise issues!
