RFT is a German brand. The RFT ECC83 / 12AX7 is a durable tube with very low microphonics. The RFT ECC83 is well known as a fantastic hard rock "crunch" tube in Marshalls, Mesa-Boogies, and similar amps. They are slightly darker sounding than many other 12AX7/ECC83 tubes.

Our stock was received in bulk packs so we have packaged these ECC83 tubes in our own white boxes.

I see here that most all reviews are for live equipment. Well I have had this tube for a while. I have many many NOS tubes that are gone forever, So I stuck it in one of my tube amps stereo and man this tube is nice. I thought why in the hell I have not tried it before. Quiet good airy top end and seems well balanced with the mid and bass. Seems it likes rock music. of course all tubes are subjective to ones preferance but this one shines for me. Signed up if they ever get anymore. Thanks!

Monster Preamp Tube

Ordered the RFT ECC83 just two days ago and it's already installed in my amplifier and making beautiful music. What an awesome tube! The RFT is not for the faint at heart. This thing roars! I've run the gamut of ECC83 tubes over the years. There's some really nice preamp tubes out there but the RFT ECC83's are in a class by themselves. If you want power and big music, look no further.

Great preamp tube!

Thought I'd try it. Bought one tube here from the tube store. Put it in valve 1 of my deluxe reverb reissue. It sounds remarkable, the gain was richer in harmonics and the sustain was unreal, and slightly less treble. Tried it in V-1 of my Marshall Bluesbreaker combo. Outstanding. This is a wonderful preamp tube it seems. Don't know how it sounds in other amp models but the difference and improvement was remarkable in my Fender Deluxe and my Marshall Bluesbreaker. Will purchase a couple more of them.

My favorite shortplate 12ax7.

RFT Siemens were located in East Germany prior to reunification. The valves were made to military spec. Afaik.

A short plate valve that is extremely quiet, consistent in tone and gain. It is NOT dark in tone but is warm with a sweet clarity rich in harmonic overtones. It loves to be driven hard with a complex and detailed midrange character that I really like.
It's a very tough valve ime and as you may know vintage Marshalls can be hard on the V2 12ax7. The only 12ax7 I've never lost in this position is an RFT 12ax7.

I've used them in all my amps in various positions over the yrs, Marshall, Fender and Vox, and with 25 yrs of familiarity with this valve I can recommend them.

Work good in my marshalls

Put these in my 1990 JCM 900 4500 made it much more articulate and detailed to my ears , so I put in my JCM 2000 also now it sounds more Marshall. I tuned up a friends 1998 JCM 900 4100 with JJ pre and JJ 6l6 tubes and rebiased afterwards listening to amp I knew it was better because tubes that came out were original but missing something so I put a RFT in V1 and amp had more detail and articulation to chords.I took head to a party and the friend played a 2019 explorer through a 4x12 cab with G12-75s in it , a group of 5 people were listening as I swapped RFT And JJ from V1 , all 5 agreed how much better the RFT made this 900 sound, so good that I would of felt bad leaving the JJ in there,We play in the same band so I let him have it and he couldn’t be more happier!
