The Preferred Series 7025 is a high quality 12AX7 tube type. This tube is a reproduction of the highly regarded and sought after Mullards from the 1960s.

This 7025 is a high quality and very rugged custom 12AX7 tube produced for us in China by the Shuguang factory. The plates are manufactured out of a premium metal imported from Germany and supported with extra thick mica spacers to insure against microphonics. They are burned in and tested at the factory and then again on our digital high voltage equipment to make sure the tubes selected for you will provide outstanding tone and performance.

From our review: "A great sounding 12AX7 tube type that reminds me a little more of the ECC83 that Ei made in the old days. That's a pretty nice compliment. I compared this tube against an old Ei and Telefunken smooth plate and there was very little difference. Lots of gain with a rather low noise floor. No microphonics issues at all. Very good considering the large plate size. Spot welding may be better for microphonics than crimped plates. I tried it in all the standard guitar amp duties and it was fine. Fabulous in Blackface Fender amps. We tried this 7025 in a 66 Vibrolux reverb 2x10 combo and the tones were all there. Light and shimmering or really aggressive, it's all good."

Warranty: The Preferred Series 7025 tubes carry a 6 month extended warranty.

A simply great 12AX7

by

After A-B testing a bunch of 12AX7s, the 7025's came second only to NOS Mullards, with all the range - and across a sweep of volumes - but just a touch less "3D" grit when dimed. For the price, the consistency of this tube over any NOS option is a no-brainer. Creamy, breathy clarity. Great for most styles, but if you're a metal shredder you might want something a little tighter (Tung Sol?).

excellent tubes!!

I had been lucky enough to find 4 of these used on line and thought I would give them a try. I had originally put them in my Jet City 50H along with one Tungsol with awesome results. So on a whim I decided to pull 2 out and throw into my Marshall DSL40C in V2 and V3 with 2 Tungsol's in V1 and V4. All I can say is they absolutely changed the sound of the Marshall for the better and it was good before with 4 Tungsol 12AX7's in it. Much more musical now, warmer, and smoother sounding. There is even less hiss on the red channel where I generally keep it at. I ended up ordering 2 more so I can throw them back in the Jet city. DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY THESE, GREAT TUBES!!!!! Now I cant wait to get the 2 I ordered along with the Preferred Series EL34's I order to put in the Marshall also.

Excellent for V1

I cynically purchased a Preferred Tube 7025 for the V1 position for my Mesa Boogie Mark V. I sampled other tubes (Tungsol, Northern Electric, Mullard) in the same position with varying results. The result was highly positive. It enriched the bass and low mids very well, giving my guitar sound an attack for which I have been wishing. The high end is clear without being harsh. I well balanced tube. Not only am I curious about the sound if I replace the other stock tubes (I think they are Mesa branded JJ), but also placing them in my Mesa Rectifier PreAmp.

Great Tube for V1

I recently purchased a used Marshall JVM amp and thought I should change out some of the pre-amp tubes since the tubes were still original and it was a 2008 model. Honestly the amp sounded pretty good when I first fired it up but thought I would still change out the V1 and V2 just to see if I could hear a difference. I put a thetubestore Preferred Series 7025 in the V1 and a Tung-Sol 12AX7 in the V2, and my god the amp came alive and roared some sweet Marshall tone. I couldn't believe the difference and I could not be happier. I highly recommend this tube in the V1 spot.

A tube we wouldn't want to be without.

It definitely has its uses in all positions. I've used it mostly in V3.
