Finally, an Electro-Harmonix version of the EL84 power tube. Expect them to take the heat in AC30 amps. Electro Harmonix says this about their vacuum tube, "the EL84EH tube faithfully recreates the classic Mullard design. Tri-lam plate material and selected screen wire increase thermal dissipation. The EL84-EH vacuum tube is a remarkable reproduction of a vintage tube that is capable of maintaining its sweet and musical tone under any voltage conditions."

Note: These tubes have a slightly larger diameter than other EL84 tubes so they can not be installed into some '90's era Marshall DSL201 or DSL401 amplifiers, some '90's era reissue Vox AC15 amps, and Bad Cat amps.

Nice

by

These are a well made tube like other EHX stamped stuff I have used (I have only had one bad one and that was a microphonic 12ax7eh). No rattles out of the box unlike some JJs I have had. They are punchy and add a nice rounded feel to a driven tone when you push them hard, almost like a really mild fuzz but creamy and not brittle like a Sovtek can get. I like them a lot. El84s all seem to rattle a lot in a combo but so far no issies with these.

Great sounding tubes

Just had 8 of these put in my acoustic masterpiece AM-201H and wow. Compared to the OEMs, for which I could not find the manufacturer, these Tubes have higher highs and better bass response. I'm a happy camper.

Nice sounding tube. It got everything I want for this type of tube. Going to get a set for my dad's old Vox AC30 (65 mod) soon.

The JJ EL84 sounded loud and shrill. JJ 844 was too compressed. Sovtek full but a tad shrill. The EH very musical, tamed the highs and was my favorite of the four.

Excellent in Peavey Classics

Put these in my old Classic 30 along with 2 EH 12AX7 and one Tung-Sol 12AX7 on the clean. Sounds awesome, thick and very musical. Much better than JJ. Peavey Classic with JJ sounds odd and never satisfying, but EH sounds great for the price.
