The Matsushita 7316 tube is a rare 12AU7 tube version. The 7316 tube is considered by many to be one of the best sounding 12AU7 Tube Types ever made. We have a small NOS batch, that were originally provided for the avionics industry. They are in original boxes with the industrial codes printing. The part number code on the boxes is 5960-00-752-6175. They are marked as produced in the UK for General Electric, but there is little doubt they were made in Japan's Matsushita factory as they do not have the factory codes labeled on the bottle that we'd expect from European made tubes.

This tube is a premium replacement for all 12AU7, ECC82, 5814, and 6189 tube types.

Spectacular Range

by

First off, I have to say this tube has spectacular width of sound, from the rumbly lows to the sparkly highs. It doesn't emphasize any particular region of sound, but walks a fine line between analytical and warm. Seems to be quite happy crashing through very complicated pieces with only a little blurriness. Clean sound down low and clean (not bright) highs. It is slightly lower gain than other preamp tubes in the same class, though. Not a bad thing unless your amp doesn't have enough drive to compensate.Running this in an xDuoo TA-03 with Sennheiser HD700's.
