The JJ ECC83S / 12AX7 preamp tube is a fantastic performer at a very affordable price.
From our review of this tube: "The compact plate structure does nothing to dampen their sound or dynamic response. I find them to be well balanced. While not as harmonically rich as others I tested, they do provide high gain without the usual noise and microphonic problems you would expect. This is great sound for your dollar..."

Warranty Period: 3 monthsAll our tubes are guaranteed for 3 months from the date of purchase. (Any exceptions will be noted on that tube's Warranty tab)
If you receive a tube that does not perform to the manufacturer's specifications, please do the following:
- contact us to get a return authorization
- return it via regular mail within 90 days from when we shipped it, and we will provide an exchange or refund of the full purchase price of the tube.
Returns not related to warranty or defect will be considered at our discretion, and are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
We can not accept returns that don't have an authorization, are past 3 month, or are returned improperly.

Great warm vintage blues tone!

I completely retubed a Peavey Classic 50 2x12" with JJs from The Tube Store.
First, I did the pre-amp tubes, and WOW!, what a noticeable difference and tone improvement the JJs are from the factory Sovteks. The JJs tamed the Lead channel's harsh and brittle sound, The Lead channel before was so harsh that I considered it unusable. (FYI, V2 is the Lead channel gain stage tube in Peavey Classic Series amps.)
The Normal channel now sounds like a blues tube amp. The difference is remarkable from Sovteks to JJs. Along the way I also tried Electro-Harmonix 12AX7s (harsh, like the Sovteks), Groove Tubes (better, but not as good as JJs).
I then replaced the Sovtek EL-84 power tubes with JJ EL-84s and the tone transformation was complete.
BOTTOM LINE: I'm very happy with the JJs and the service I got from The Tube Store. Thanks for the fantastic tone!!

Bought JJ ECC-83S to replace stock Chinese tubes in my ART TubeOpto 8. Sound is cleaner and more detailed. Very happy with my purchase and the speed of shipping. Thanks guys!

I find that this JJ tube has good sound, but lower gain than other 12AX7's. Its gain is more like a 5751. In a Guyatone Tube Echo pedal, it provided too little gain. If you have an amp that is "too hot" these sound nice, and will calm down amps shipped with hot preamp tubes.
