You need more clean headroom?  The new Tung-Sol 7581A vacuum tube is the answer.  This tube is an upgraded 6L6GC tube but willprovide more headroom than typical 6L6GC tubes. The 7581-A power tube has a plate dissipation rating of 35W, as opposed to the 6L6GC and 7581 rating of 30W.  The 7581A tube can be used in any 6L6 based tube circuit.

From our review: "Balanced, is the first word that comes to mind when I think about the sound. Other descriptive words would include detailed, rich and responsive. The bass response, midrange and treble were very balanced and the EQ could essentially be left flat.Very rich sounding with enough shimmer and harmonics to put a smile on my face."

A fantastic choice for your Fender tube amp, Ampeg amps normally using 7027A tubes, Music Man amps, or any other 6L6 based tube amp where you need to increase headroom.

Tung-Sol 7581A (35W rated) | Great tube

by

I bought these TS-7581A after reading another customers review. He is using them in Quicksilver Mid Monos. These tubes are flat out unbelievable in the Mid Monos. Wall to wall sound great bass, mid range is spot on and there is more treble extension than the el34s I’ve tried.

7581A's are perfect for my 1984 M/B Mark II C+

by

My 1984 Mesa/Boogie Mark II C+ head is at times a very finicky amp. After using the Tung-Sol 6L6-G large bottle tubes for a few years I decided to try something that was a little more rugged. The idea was to leave the amp completely stock and fiddle with it.
That was 8 years ago and I haven't cared to try a different tube option since for my 84 C+. The Tung-Sol 7581A is literally the perfect power tube for my C+ amp.
The bass remains nice and tight. The highs are very well controlled. But the REAL GOODS are in how this tube richens the fundamentals that way the low end mids become entirely full bodied. IMO this body is crucial for metal. Additionally, the middle mids still retain their accessibility in much of the same way that EL34's do.
In a Mesa/Boogie amp that can run two different tube types at once maintaining a solid foundation of the fundamental frequencies is very important. And when paired with an EL34 tube type the full body of the guitar comes through.

Made in Russia will be hard to find soon

by

With all that’s going on in Russia, and nothing going in or out of the country, I ordered a backup quad of 7581A.
If you are smitten by this seductive, amazing tube grab them while they are available!!

Has to be heard to be believed

by

I have had my PrimaLuna Dialogue 2 for seven years now and have tried EL34, KT88 and finally under recommendation by a friend I got a matched quad of these Tungsol 7581A.
From the very first listening sessions my jaw has just dropped every time .
Power, Finesse, and most of all Musical.
Powerful controlled bass, sparkling highs and ….The magical mids…unbelievable.
Now my favorite power tube by a long shot .
Highly recommend

best modern production power tube - opens up any 6L6 amp!

by

I have not found a single 6L6 (guitar) amp yet that does not massively benefit from this tube. It really will 'open up' your amp, if you're battling with that 'blanket over the speaker' sound, or need more clarity. Balanced, somehow bringing out character in all frequency registers. Chime and bell-like tones from the top end all through your midrange, the lows are unbelievably tight and articulate, and 'icepick' highs are tamed, leaving you with a well-rounded sound that reduces ear fatigue.

In my Silvertone 1484, they transformed it from a harsh, jangly, uncoopertive little thing, into a classic rock machine, now usable all across its register. In my Mesa Dual Rec, this amp is absolutely THUNDEROUS now. And unlike most 6L6GC, these actually sound great when lightly overdriven! If you're chasing that "pushed to the explosion point" heavy rhythm tone, without ACTUALLY exploding something, this is a fantastic option.
